MAKING OUR CLOTHES IN A SMARTER WAY.
By using materials that are more sustainably sourced we're hoping to reduce the impact had on the environment and create a more sustainable future. Making our clothes in a smarter way, with better materials, more sustainable design, less waste and packaging, is one of our core focuses as part of our sustainability strategy.
All our polyester and cotton products will contain recycled or more sustainably sourced materials.More sustainably sourced includes organic cotton, Better Cotton and Cotton Connect.Over half of our synthetic cellulosics will come from more sustainable sources. All our leather, wool, feather and down will be sourced in line with industry best practices.
All the materials we use will be more sustainably sourced.
Did you know you can do your bit to prevent the unnecessary pile up of discarded clothing in landfills around the UK? Introducing reGAIN, the app that allows you to turn your unwanted clothes into discounts to get cash off your next PrettyLittleThing purchase.
READY FOR THE FUTURE strapline can be used for any garment that is made up of more than 20% of our stated better materials.
Starting with the lower threshold of 20% will enable us to support suppliers that are new to sustainable materials to drive improvements across the industry.
Recycled fibres can be used for a number of materials including polyester, cotton and acrylic. They do not use virgin fossil fuels and are often derived from products that would otherwise have gone to waste.
Organic cotton is grown using less water, with greater care for the soil and biodiversity, and without chemical fertilisers and pesticides, creating a lower environmental impact than conventional cotton.
Viscose sourced from responsibly managed forests and using responsible production practices.
We are working towards sourcing our animal-derived products following industry best practice. This means wool, feather and down certified to high animal welfare standards, and leather from tanneries that are working to reduce their environmental impact.
Tackling textile waste is a priority and so we will be looking for ways to use textiles that could otherwise have gone to waste including vintage, surplus and rescued fabrics.
We are proud members of the Better Cotton Initiative. Better Cotton is not traceable to products. However, BCI farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in equivalent volumes to those we source.Click here to learn more about BCI.In alignment with BCI guidelines, we will only make BCI product claims once we achieve 10% of our cotton sourcing through the BCI route.
Our partnership with Cotton Connect is well under way and means our farmers are being trained in more sustainable cotton farming methods, which create more of a profitable and productive business. We are then able to track the cotton right through our supply chain from farm to garment.
